Leeds United have received a huge boost in pursuit of Josh Sargent as Norwich City could be forced to sell the striker this summer, as per the Eastern Daily Press.
Daniel Farke signed the American during his time as the manager at Carrow Road but now it appears the German is willing to reunite with his former colleague at the Peacock.
It has previously been reported that Leeds are interested in signing the Norwich star and they could make a concrete approach this summer with Farke a big fan of the striker.
Sargent enjoyed a productive campaign in the Championship last term, scoring 16 goals and registering two assists in 26 appearances. The 24-year-old guided his team to finish in the top six and qualify for the playoffs but Norwich were eventually pipped to the post by Leeds in the semi-final over the two legs.
Leeds United receive boost to sign Sargent
Now, according to the report by the Eastern Daily Press, Norwich will have to sell some of their stars to raise funds without parachute payment with Sargent being one of them who could be allowed to leave the club. So, this is a huge boost for Leeds to sign Sargent. The report further claims that along with Sargent Jonathan Rowe, Gabriel Sara and Angus Gunn are also on Norwich’s transfer list.
Having recently signed an extension with Norwich, Sargent – valued at around £12m by Transfermarkt – still has four years left in his current contract. So, the Canaries are likely to demand a sizable amount of money to sell their star man.
The striker is a versatile player as he can play multiple positions across the frontline. He is quick, has the efficiency of finishing off his chances and also works hard without possession.
The American has showcased his goal-scoring prowess in the Championship last term, and he is still just 24 and is yet to reach his prime. So Sargent could be a shrewd acquisition for Leeds should they acquire his service this summer.
What do you think guys should we look to sign Sargent or look for another option to reinforce the attack?
