Leeds United could reportedly seal a major deal soon as Everton are set to step up their efforts to sign Wilfried Gnonto this summer, as per iNews.
The Whites have made a few new additions this summer, signing Joe Rothwell, Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon. However, they have been more busy in selling some of their key stars.
It has been reported that Leeds have suffered a big financial blow after failing to gain promotion last term and as a consequence of that, they need to sell stars to balance the books.
Archie Gray has already joined Tottenham Hotspur for a big fee, while Glen Kamara has moved to Ligue 1 to play for Stade Rennais. Additionally, numerous other names have also been linked with a move away from Elland Road in recent times with Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter being among them.
Now, iNews has reported that Everton are keen on signing Gnonto and after purchasing Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli, they will step up their interest in signing the Leeds star this summer.
Leeds to sell Gnonto
The report further claims that Gnonto is keen on moving to Goodison Park but securing a deal for him won’t be easy for the Merseyside club as Leeds won’t let their star man leave for cheap.
It has previously been reported that Daniel Farke’s side want a fee of around £30m to sell their star player and it remains to be seen whether Everton can eventually manage to acquire his service by matching the valuation.
Despite coming close to securing promotion last term, Leeds eventually failed to achieve that after losing to Southampton in the playoff final.
So, Farke would be desperate to seal the Premier League status next season. However, it won’t be easy to achieve that as the Yorkshire club are likely to sell many of their key players but may not replace them with proper quality players due to the financial issue.
Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see how the summer transfer window eventually unfolds for Leeds and how they’ll perform next campaign.
