Former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa resonated with so many fans and players while at Elland Road but you could argue that few had as good a time under him as Patrick Bamford.
Bamford, who joined Leeds in 2018, has failed to establish himself at his previous clubs. Bielsa brought the best out of him, however, as he scored nine in his first year at Elland Road and then 16 more a season later to help fire Leeds back up into the Premier League.
Hard Work Pays Off
Bamford discussed the demanding nature of working under Bielsa. The rigorous training required a lot of hard work, which was essential for winning games and improving as players.
Although it was tough, Bamford also took time to reflect on the evolution he had gone through this term and how well things were going, a transformation which was sparked by Bielsa’s high demands of his team.
Rewarding Success
Bamford also spoke about how much of a joy it is to play under Bielsa.
The satisfaction of turning over established Premier League outfits when everyone thought they were done was immense.
The win was a validation of Bielsa’s efficient coaching role which helped them to maximize the talent at their disposal.
Bielsa’s Lasting Impact
Bielsa era will have a lasting impact at Elland Road. He reignited hopes in many seeing Leeds United triumph on the grand stage.
Both, particularly Bamford thrived under Bielsa with the marksman boasting an incredible goal scoring record and also won his first England cap.
And, as a time which even Cooper agrees saved his career and the highlight of Bielsa’s ability to turn players around.
