Leeds United are reportedly ‘looking at’ signing Coventry City star Callum O’Hare this summer, as per the ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Alan Hutton.
The 26-year-old couldn’t feature during the first few months of last season due to an injury problem, but after returning to full fitness, he played a key role for Mark Robins’ side last term.
The midfielder was a key part of Coventry City – who went all the way to the FA Cup semi-final last campaign. O’Hare even scored a goal against Manchester United in the semi-final but unfortunately couldn’t convert the penalty during the shootout and in the end, they couldn’t reach the final.
However, the Coventry star has entered the final few days of his current contract and it looks like he is set to leave as a free agent.
Now, speaking on Football Insider, Hutton has said that the Whites are ‘definitely looking at’ signing O’Hare this summer and he could be an excellent replacement for Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter – who could leave this summer.
Leeds to go for O’Hare
The former defender further claims that O’Hare is technically gifted, has an eye for playing passes, can finish off his chances and is also at the perfect stage of his career. So, he is an ‘exciting player’ and could be an excellent acquisition for Leeds if they acquire his service.
Hutton said:
“He fits the bill that Leeds like, he’s an exciting player. Especially if they’re going to lose somebody like Summerville or Rutter who could possibly be leaving this summer as well. They’re going to need to bring somebody in to replace these guys.
“I know Callum O’Hare well, I’ve played alongside him when I was at Villa. He’s very technically gifted, he’s got an eye for a pass and he can score goals, and he’s still at a good age and he’s got experience at this level. I think that is something Leeds are definitely looking at and he suits them well.”
So, considering O’Hare is set to be available as a free agent, he would be an affordable signing for Leeds. Therefore, taking advantage of deals like this would be ideal for the Yorkshire club given their current financial difficulties after failing to gain promotion.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Leeds can eventually manage to acquire his service in this transfer window.
