Following an agonising end to last season, Leeds United have started their pre-season training to turn the fortune around next campaign and finally return to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s side have already signed Joe Rothwell, who has joined on loan from AFC Bournemouth, Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle to help the German boss achieve success next term. Additionally, a few more new signings are likely to come before the end of this transfer window.
However, amid this situation, Leeds have been forced to sell a couple of their key players and a few other names have also been linked with a move away from the club.
The Whites have reportedly suffered a huge blow financially having failed to gain promotion last term. Therefore, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara have already been sold to balance the books.
Leeds in talks to sell Summerville
Moreover, Wilfried Gnonto has been linked with a move away from the club with Everton reportedly keen on acquiring his service.
Now, speaking on GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Gnonto isn’t the only Leeds player on Premier League clubs’ wish-list as Crysencio Summerville has also been attracting the attention of West Ham United.
The journalist further claims that the Hammers have been showing genuine interest in signing the Dutchman and they have already held talks with the player’s representatives over this deal.
Romano also states that West Ham have had talks with Leeds as well and they could opt to accelerate their efforts to purchase Summerville in this transfer window.
Romano said:
“The interest is still there in Summerville. It’s an expensive package, so I’m not sure West Ham will be able to make it happen, but the interest is genuine. They had contacts on the player’s side and contacts on the club side after speaking to Leeds last week. He is one of the players they have on their shortlist.”
The Peacocks reportedly don’t want to let their star man leave for anything less than £40m hence they could get a big sum should they eventually sell him this summer.
However, he was the Championship’s player of the season last term, therefore, his departure would create a huge void in Farke’s squad. So, it remains to be seen what Leeds eventually decide to do regarding Summerville’s future.
