Leeds United are getting’ ready for life back in the Premier League, and the club’s already looking’ at big names to help them stay up.
One name on the list is German midfielder Julian Weigl, who could be joining Daniel Farke’s side this summer.
Farke Wants His Old Midfielder Back
Leeds haven’t sealed promotion yet, but with just four games left and 88 points on the board, they’re sittin’ at the top of the Championship.
It’s looking’ more and more likely that Premier League football is returning’ to Elland Road.
Daniel Farke knows how tough the top flight is, and he’s already making plans. One of them includes tryin’ to bring Julian Weigl to Leeds.
Farke and Weigl worked together before at Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany. The manager knows exactly what the midfielder can do, and he’d love to bring him in.
Big Wages, Big Quality
Weigl, who’s 29 years old, is still under contract with Monchengladbach until 2028. That means the German club doesn’t need to sell him, but it also means they’ll want a good price.
Right now, he’s earning’ around £57,000 a week. That’s a big wage, but it shows how much quality he brings.
Reports say Leeds have made an approach already, and Weigl is only interested in a Premier League move if he leaves Germany.
With Leeds lookin’ very likely to go up, the timing could be just right.
Leeds Need to Get Transfers Right
Last season, all three promoted clubs went straight back down from the Premier League.
That’s a big reminder to Leeds that promotion is only half the job, staying up is the real challenge.
Weigl has played at the highest level in Germany and Europe, and he could give Leeds the extra class they need in midfield.
He’s smart on the ball, calm under pressure, and has loads of experience. That’s the kind of player Farke needs to build a strong Premier League team.
Eyes on Promotion and Transfers
Leeds are in a great position with four matches left. They’ve got a five-point gap on Sheffield United in third, and they’re level with Burnley on 88 points.
The focus is still on winning promotion, but that doesn’t mean the club isn’t thinkin’ ahead.
If Farke can get Weigl through the door early, it’ll be a big boost for the squad.
Fans will be hoping for some top signings this summer and it looks like the club is already working hard behind the scenes to make that happen.
Premier League football is coming’ back to Elland Road and Farke wants to make sure Leeds are ready for it.
