In a thrilling Championship encounter, Leeds United had to settle for a hard-fought 3–3 draw with Hull City after being in control of the match with the lead of two goals.
Manager Daniel Farke is no doubt going to be frustrated due to the fact that mistakes in defense cost his side immensely at the MKM Stadium.
The game however began a bit clumsily from a Leeds perspective after Abu Kamara managed to chip Illan Meslier over his head.
Nonetheless the Whites roared back into the game thanks to their second half performance, where Ao Tanaka equalized in a minute from the start, to give fans hope.
The visitors then went ahead after Dan James scored, and then Joel Piroe scored a third, which put Leeds in a seemingly unassailable position.
However, the match took a completely different turn from that point onwards.
A lapse in concentration allowed Joao Pedro to have a go which resulted in a goal for hull city, and after missing a few opportunities late on, Kamara stepped up and scored, giving hull a hard-earned draw.
Player Ratings: Highs and Lows
Illan Meslier – 1/10
A match to forget for the Leeds goalkeeper. His rash decision-making led to Kamara’s opener, and another error gifted Hull the chance to come back into the game.
Ao Tanaka – 8/10
A shining star for Leeds, Tanaka controlled the midfield and scored a beautiful equaliser from outside the box. His performance continues to attract attention from Premier League clubs.
Dan James – 7/10
James was lively throughout the game, converting one of his chances to help Leeds take the lead. However, his inconsistency in front of goal remains a concern.
Joel Piroe – 7/10
Piroe worked hard in the final third and eventually got on the scoresheet. His leadership in attack was noticeable, even though the team couldn’t secure a win.
Manor Solomon – 7/10
Another solid performance from Solomon, who assisted Tanaka’s goal with a perfectly timed pass. His creative spark continues to shine for Leeds.
Defensive Issues Cost Leeds
Although Leeds appeared to be in good spirits and had the desire to go forward but defensive errors remain a major concern.
Meslier’s blunders at the back allowed Hull to get back on level terms.
With Leeds still pursuing promotion, solidifying their defense will be paramount in the upcoming weeks.
Farke has a lot of positives on the attacking display, but defensive issues need to be fixed quickly in order for the club’s Championship targets to be realized.
Leeds supporters will be unhappy with the outcome, but the factors of Tanaka’s performance will be encouraging.
The Whites need to pick themselves up and bounce back from this game into the next one.
