Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard has said that the timing of their match against Leeds United is “not ideal.” The Championship game was originally set for Saturday, but it has been moved to Wednesday night after both teams made it to the FA Cup fourth round.
Leeds United will face Millwall in the cup this weekend, while Coventry will play Ipswich Town. This change means Coventry now has to play another midweek game, adding to an already packed schedule.
Lampard admitted the change was not great for his team, but he also accepted it as part of football.
“It wasn’t ideal for us, but it is what it is,” he said. “We will manage the squad and it isn’t one to complain about too much. Sometimes the Championship throws up heavy schedules, so we will manage it as best as we can and take all these games on.”

Coventry in Good Form Ahead of Big Clash
Despite the schedule issues, Coventry City are in top form. They have won their last four matches and now sit 11th in the Championship table. Their latest victory was a 2-0 win over Swansea City, which brought them closer to the play-off spots.
Right now, Coventry are just three points behind West Brom, who hold the final play-off place. With 16 games left in the season, Lampard’s side still has a good chance to fight for promotion.
Lampard is happy with his team’s recent performances but warned they must stay focused. He said, “We’ve made up some ground, that’s for sure, and we’re playing better, Performances are good, but the minute those standards drop, that won’t continue.”
He also stressed the importance of keeping up the momentum. He added, “It’s great to look up a bit now, but we have to understand what it takes to keep going, We’ve got ourselves in a good position now.”
Tough Schedule Ahead for Coventry
Coventry are set to play six matches this month, which means the squad will be tested. With a busy fixture list and crucial games coming up, Lampard will have to manage his players carefully.
Leeds United, on the other hand, are at the top of the table and will be a tough opponent. They will come into the game with confidence, knowing that a win will keep them ahead in the promotion race.
Coventry will be hoping to continue their strong run and pick up another important victory. However, with such a busy schedule, it won’t be easy for Lampard’s team.
The match against Leeds United will be a big test for Coventry. A win could push them closer to the play-offs, but they will have to overcome the challenge of a packed fixture list and a top-quality opponent.
