Leeds United didn’t manage to grab all the three points against Blackburn Rovers at Elland road on Saturday.
Leeds earned the lead in the dying moments of the match following a tough battle, however, Blackburn equalized the score only moments later.
This draw sees Daniel Farke’s men still three points above everybody else in the Championship.
However, this was a chance to extend their advantage, or rather an opportunity missed while Burnley and Sheffield United did the same.
Eustace’s Strategy Works Again
John Eustace, the manager of the Blackburn team, has also proven a tough nut for Leeds United and Daniel Farke to crack.
Ever since Farke’s appointment, Eustace has played Leeds in four matches and has not been able to lose any of them. Instead, he has won three and now drawn one.
In the first half, Leeds struggled to even make a single clear cut chance, a testament to Blackburn’s defense.
The second half presented some better performance from the Whites but still they struggled to get quality goal attempts with only some half chances created.
Brenden Aaronson was wide off the target, and Dan James could not connect with a threatening possession by Solomon on the right flank.
Manor Solomon’s Substitution Sparks Reaction
The biggest talking point of the game was Manor Solomon’s substitution in the 70th minute.
The Tottenham loanee has been quite impressive for Leeds, unfortunately for him, Farke opted to take him off leading to a frustrated reaction from him.
Having been the best player on the pitch, Solomon should have played further on but alas he had to leave.
His shoulders dropped as he threw his gloves and headed towards the bench. Former Leeds defender Tony Dorigo had a few words to add and questioned the decision.
Later, Solomon addressed the situation on Instagram, posting:“Not the result we wanted to start the year, but we go again on Saturday.”
Solomon’s Performance by the Numbers
Despite his early exit, Solomon’s stats showed his efforts during the game:
- 70 minutes played
- 42 touches and 28 successful passes (out of 31 attempts)
- 2 successful crosses from 7 attempts
- 4 touches in the opposition box
- 1 duel won out of 5
While his numbers weren’t extraordinary, Solomon’s energy and creativity were evident during the match.
