Leeds United Mateo Joseph is turning heads this season by impressing both in the Championship and on international duty.
The talented forward, who joined Leeds for £900k, has been key for the side in their opening three games, coming up with a goal and 2 assists.
He also continued his good form onto the international stage, netting a decisive strike for Spain U21s against Scotland in a 2-1 win.
Spanish media were quick to laud Joseph after the game with Teledeporte saying, “This kid has some stuff.”
Coming on as a substitute in the 66th minute, Joseph made an instant impact, netting the winner just two minutes later.
His composure and clinical finishing show why Leeds made the investment in him.
Leeds’ Strong Form Before the Break
Leeds had built up some momentum in the Championship prior to this international break.
The team boasted an attacking quality when they ran out 2-0 winners against Hull City, two Joseph and Joel Piroe goals.
Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani left lasting impressions as Solomon registered an assist.
Even though Leeds lost some of their best creative men such as Crysencio Summerville, Daniel Farke has been able to keep their attacking threat alive through players like Joseph.
Tough Fixtures Ahead for Leeds
Now Leeds have to get back on track with a few make or break games looming for their promotion push.
Before this, however, they will meet Burnley, a team just one point behind them in the league.
After this, they face challenging matches against Cardiff City, Coventry City, Norwich City, and Sunderland.
The depth of the squad will be tested during this period, however given performances like that from Joseph and there is no reason why Leeds fans shouldn’t see plenty more victories.
A good showing in these fixtures could significantly boost their chances of promotion, while a poor run would leave them playing catch-up.
Leeds’ next few weeks are crucial and it’s essential they keep up the form which they had before international break, without that for even a short period and their play-off run could very well be over.
