Ex-midfielder David Norris has heaped praise on Leeds United after signing Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The Welshman spent a season-long loan at Elland Road last season. He enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Championship alongside Ethan Ampadu, helping his side reach the playoff final.
However, the Whites eventually failed to beat Southampton in the final and as a result, Rodon failed to guide Leeds to the English top-flight. But, it was mentioned that Leeds were impressed by the defender’s performances so they wanted to acquire his service permanently.
The Peacocks eventually managed to do that in a £10m deal but in return, they had to sell Archie Gray to the Premier League club.
Now, speaking on MOT Leeds News, Norris has said that a few Premier League clubs were showing interest in Rodon so securing his signature permanently is a great business for the Yorkshire club.
Leeds praised for Rodon signing
The ex-midfielder further claims that Rodon was excellent last season and fans were raving about him so the defender should be an excellent acquisition for Leeds ahead of next season.
Norris said:
“I think that’s a great bit of business, getting Rodon to come the other way. He was class last season, and all the fans were raving about him. There were rumoured to be clubs interested from the Premier League, so it’s a really good bit of business. I think it looks great on Leeds that Rodon seemed to want to come back over other clubs, and chose to come back permanently.”
Signing Rodon would strengthen the Whites backline but Farke would be hoping to add a few more new signings over the coming weeks to bolster the squad to mount a top-two charge next season.
Leeds would be better off signing a new right-back and centre-forward. Additionally, they should purchase a new midfielder to replace Gray ahead of next campaign.
It is going to be interesting to see what Farke’s side eventually decide to do in this transfer window to reinforce the squad and how they perform in the Championship next season.
