Leeds United could lose defender Max Wober before the Turkish transfer window closes on Friday.
Even though the English transfer window has closed, Turkish sides including Galatasaray can still dip into the market.
Galatasaray has been linked with a move for Wober, who hasn’t made an appearance all season.
That is the last thing that Leeds need at this time given just how short they are on defenders and with those needing replacements not able to be signed until January.
Yet, Wober seems to express his delight at Leeds and understands the scenario right now.
Why Losing Wober Would Hurt Leeds
With a small squad and only three pure central defenders, Leeds may not currently be able to afford to lose players like Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, and Wober.
Selling Wober would leave them short at the back. The Austrian international recently confessed that he is happy at Leeds but is willing to wait for his chance to play again.
Galatasaray could come back with a loan-to-buy offer, but Leeds are unlikely to consider it given the danger of weakening their squad and their challenging relationship with the Turkish club.
Wober’s Future at Leeds
During a recent interview, Wober remained optimistic about his future, acknowledging the competition for spots at Leeds.
He said he’s happy to be at the club, despite not playing.
With Leeds aiming for promotion, Wober knows getting game time in a successful team will be tough but is prepared to stay patient and fight for his place.
Leeds fans will hope this means the club won’t lose such an important player.
