Isaac Schmidt to join Leeds United from St Gallen.
The adaptable full-back, who netted in his club’s victory over Trabzonspor to qualify for the Europa Conference League and is now en route to Yorkshire.
Yet his trip has been pushed back because of a mandatory refueling stop.
Schmidt will have a medical before finalizing the paperwork on his move once he arrives in England.
He’ll not be available to play Hull City on 31 August as the registration deadline has already passed.
Leeds’ Transfer Window Coming to a Close
The arrival of Schmidt is likely to signal the end of Leeds United’s business in this window.
Ao Tanaka signed earlier from Frotuna Dusseldorf to add depth in the midfield.
But Schmidt, a player who can offer cover in both full-back slots, is going to prove invaluable for Daniel Farke’s squad.
The only area of slight disappointment might be up front, with Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford struggling for form at times.
Still, the arrival of Schmidt is a good move from this perspective.
Looking Forward
Now Leeds United need to make the most of the current squad as focus shifts towards Championship season ahead Schmidt and Tanaka have reinforced the defenders and midfield respectively, Farke will hope these signings help stabilize the team’s performances moving forward.
Fans will be eager to see how well the new recruits fit into the squad in their next matches, starting with the game against Hull City.
