Football journalist Phil Hay has dropped an exciting update for Leeds United fans right now. He said Leeds ‘will 100 per cent’ make a move for a £11m player in summer.
The transfer window opens on Friday and Leeds are evidently preparing themselves for a tumultuous few weeks of ins and potential outs.
Joe Rodon is a Top Target
Of all the potential deals, Leeds United are the most interested in a reunion with Joe Rodon.
The Whites want Rodon, who was an output from a good loan spell at Leeds. Rodon signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2025, but Leeds still hoped to get him out on another season long loan.
Leeds will be keen to re-sign Rodon: Phil Hay is of the opinion that Leeds will do all they can to get Rodon back, given that he had one of his best seasons in the Leeds strip and will not need too much time to bed into the Leeds team.
“Absolute slam dunk that they would take Rodon back if they could,” Hay said. Leeds would struggle to make it work financially, but a loan agreement could be suitable.
We liked a lot of what we saw in Rodon while covering him, and it would be a logical solution to other needs while retaining control of another player.
Rodon’s Feelings About Returning
Joe Rodon revealed how much of a “second home” Leeds has become for him, too.
He just wants stability, he only wants to play at the top level.
I mean, it would be nice to get some type of stability and maybe you could have some certainty where you know where you’re at next season or something.
I have always aimed to play in the elite, and hopefully I can come back there with Leeds, but we will see. I love it here, Leeds is like my second home now.
Other Potential Signings
Leeds United are also assessing other targets. And they are targeting a loan move for Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist.
Leeds have also registered interest in Fulham forward Bobby De Cordova-Reid, who is soon to be a free agent.
The club want to avoid a repeat of starting slowly in the last transfer window, a move which ultimately damaged their chances of promotion.
Club management member Paraag Marathe has also confirmed they are looking to field the best squad they can, as per Sky Sports.
And he remains convinced that Leeds will enjoy a busy and successful transfer window.
Liam Cooper’s Future
In better news, Leeds United are in talks to keep Liam Cooper at the club for longer. Cooper has spent ten years at Leeds and it was first speculated he could exit this summer.
Nevertheless, It appears that he will renew his current deal and stay in his Leeds United wave.
Phil Hay shared, “Leeds wants to keep Cooper, talks to stay underway” He was set to go and now, it appears he may just stick around again for another twelve months.
Preparing for the Future
Leeds United is preparing for a busy summer as they look to strengthen their squad.
With Joe Rodon as a top target and other potential signings in sight, the club is aiming to build a team that can compete strongly in the Championship.
The fans are hopeful that these new additions will help Leeds achieve their goal of getting back to the Premier League.
