Leeds United fans have had lots to keep them occupied in the final days of the transfer window.
Archie Gray’s Surprising Sale
It all began with the surprise sale of promising youngster Archie Gray. It was a deal that caught fans, and Gray himself (most definitely) off guard.
Leeds were probably acting with one eye on the long-term finances and this sale would appear as justifiable.
The reason everyone at the club is in tears after grays exit is because he was a fan favorites youngster.
Joe Rodon Returns to Elland Road
This was quickly followed by Joe Rodon going back to Elland Road, which turned an emotional rollercoaster into the world’s biggest corkscrew for Leeds fans.
A more optimistic move, re-signing a former Raven to bolster the squad.
More Departures Expected
As per Alan Nixon on X (formerly on Twitter), more leavers are likely to follow at Leeds this summer.
Nixon did not identify any players by name, while a report from the Daily Mail suggested that Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe could be offloaded.
Fans are likely now even more nervous based on this news as these players will be so important to the team succeeding.
Why Selling Bamford and Piroe Might Be a Mistake
Bamford’s Contribution
Patrick Bamford has been a spearhead for Leeds in recent years. So far injuries in recent weeks, Bamford has been heavily involved with Leeds United and his performances have played a major role in the Whites’ success.
However, to sell him may prise some money out of the clubs pockets but deposing his experience and influence on this Hull side could be damaging.
Piroe’s Potential
According to reports, another player who may be on their way out is Joel Piroe.
Piroe has been excellent and poses a major goal threat for the team. It may weaken Leeds in an attacking capacity if they were to sort him out.
Alternative Sales
Leeds might decide to flog Bamford and Piroe, instead of trading them both off they could be looking at something like players such as Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto that are said to bring in more funds.
But this would negatively impact the skill level of a team that already is teetering on bottom-end chances to take down over half of its schedule.
Investing in New Talent
The funds from any Bamford sale could be used to invest in a new number nine.
He is a rising star at the club, and Leeds may be hoping to invest some of their new riches in building for future success.
