Former Leeds United captain Liam Cooper’s transfer to Hull City reportedly collapsed and now he could return to the club.
The 32-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Leeds, with moves to Hull and Blackburn Rovers both collapsing.
Struggles to Find a New Club
Cooper has been linked with Derby County following his release at Leeds, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Not getting a move has also seen him miss out on selection for the Scotland national team, which is obviously tough to take for someone who was part of the Euro 2024 group.
Leeds United’s Current Situation
Joe Rodon is top of the center-backs pecking order at Leeds alongside Pascal Struijk, but an injury crisis has seen them struggle.
Wober’s long-term future at the club is in doubt, so bringing Cooper back could be a clever move by both parties.
Cooper is regarded highly at Leeds, although no offer has been forthcoming from any level of the Football club and this holds out hope for a deal if he does not agree to extend in advance.
His return would add a lot of depth, and that could be critical if injuries happen throughout the season.
Even though his future is still up in the air, but Leeds fans will be watching closely to see if their former captain makes a surprise comeback.
