After the surprise arrival of Nick Hammond as interim football advisor, rumours have surfaced that Leeds United may be lining up a summer move for West Bromwich Albion and Republic of Ireland international midfielder, Jayson Molumby. Molumby featured 43 times last season for West Brom, which is no mean feat. Playing that amount of games is something Leeds United don’t really possess, individuals who are robust and reliable for a full season. This alone is such a valuable asset to a side especially in the Championship, which we all know is a real slog. He also had the second highest successful pass completion percentage rate in the West Brom side.
Could Molumby be the first arrival of the summer in an area in which Leeds need to severely strengthen and have done for the last three seasons. The loss of fans favourite Mateusz Klich in January left the Whites even more exposed, which was coupled with a season ending injury to Tyler Adams, another monumental loss. The current central midfield options are players such as, Darko Gyabi, Sam Greenwood and highly rated youngster Archie Gray. I think we can all agree that the club requires a lot more strength in depth and also experience, given the decision to possibly release Adam Forshaw.
It will definitely be an interesting summer with a lot of changes both inbound and outbound. Although Molumby’s name won’t get people on the edge of their seat, this could be a very shrewd piece of business.
