One of the significant moves in the summer transfer window was Manor Solomon being signed by Leeds United on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
And Solomon quickly showed his quality, putting in an impressive performance and being named Man of the Match as Leeds secured a 2-0 win over Hull where he played an important part in the opening goal.
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne praised Solomon, calling him an “excellent player” and highlighting his potential to excel in the Championship.
A Major Boost for Leeds
His signing is being regarded as one of Leeds’ most impressive deals during the summer.
Having also found the net for Shakhtar Donetsk against Real Madrid, he made an immediate impression with his versatility and attacking flair.
However, a knee injury restricted his involvement with Tottenham but Solomon will now have the chance to re-prove himself in football’s biggest stage at Leeds and he has started already looking like a game-altering talent.
His attributes even caught the eye of Belgium star Kevin De Bruyne, who lined up against Solomon in a Nations League showdown.
De Bruyne said Solomon has what it takes to impress and help secure Leeds’ promotion challenge.
Leeds Beat Celtic for Ao Tanaka
But Leeds also secured Japanese midfielder Ao Tanaka, from Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Leeds saw off competition from Celtic, Getafe and Ajax to secure the signing of Tanaka.
While Tanaka only played a few minutes in his debut, he showed some good movement and passing ability with an impressive 90% completion rate.
Viewed as a ‘Glen Kamara replacement, Tanaka will add another dimension to Leeds midfield.
A Strong Start to the Season
Leeds United have excelled in the early weeks of season.
With the likes of Solomon & Tanaka being signed they are laying down a real marker for promotion.
The combination of Solomon’s attacking versatility and Tanaka in midfield look set to be invaluable assets as Leeds push for a Premier League return.
Leeds will want to know how effective their new signings continue to perform, hoping they can produce those performances across a full season.
With three consecutive clean sheets and a solid start, optimism is high at Elland Road.
