Joe Rodon required treatment for a head injury after a clash of heads with Josh Brownhill during Leeds United’s clash with Burnley and had to be replaced.
However, the news is his head injury itself but rather an existing hip problem he has been carrying on for some time now that had been troubling him.
Rodon’s Injury Woes
Late in the match, both players were bandaged up after the clash but Rodon’s hip injury, which had been bothering him since his international duty, became the bigger problem.
Rodon was withdrawn as a precaution by Leeds manager Daniel Farke, who says it wasn’t a concussion but the sore hip that saw his center-back replaced.
Farke emphasized Rodon’s fighting spirit, describing him as a “warrior” who wanted to keep playing despite the pain.
Fit for Cardiff?
Leeds take on Cardiff City in their next game, with doubts remaining over Rodon’s condition.
Thankfully, it’s been confirmed that Rodon does not need to follow concussion protocol and is expected to be fit for the upcoming match.
Rodon is likely to be restored in tandem with team mates Max Wöber and Patrick Bamford as Leeds aim to bounce back from that defeat.
For ex-Swansea City man Rodon, the trip to Cardiff will hold that little bit more significance, he’ll be desperate to put in a good display.
Rodon’s Commitment on Display
His desire to suit up through injuries is indicative of his commitment to the team, despite lingering questions over his long-term fitness.
Leeds need to keep a clean sheet against Cardiff and Rodon’s presence at the back could be key to achieving that..
As Leeds United search for a way to smash through Cardiff City’s blockade, supporters of the Whites will have their fingers crossed that Rodon has been recalled to lead defence in what will be seen as an absolute must-win fixture.
