Leeds United had to settle for a 2-2 draw against QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday. The Whites came from two goals down to grab a point, but there was clear frustration among the squad at full-time.
The result keeps Leeds top of the Championship table heading into the international break, but their lead has shrunk with Burnley closing the gap. It could get even tighter if Sheffield United win their next game.
QPR Take Control Early
The game didn’t start well for Leeds as QPR took control in the first half. Koki Saito opened the scoring before Steve Cook was left unmarked in the box to head in a second. Leeds struggled defensively and found themselves in trouble early on.
But Daniel Farke’s side didn’t give up. Just before half-time, Junior Firpo pulled one back with a strong finish. Then, in the second half, Jayden Bogle found the net to bring Leeds level.
Leeds pushed for a winner, but QPR held firm, and the game ended 2-2. It was a good fightback, but not the result Leeds wanted.
Tensions High at Full-Time

At the final whistle, emotions were running high. Mateo Joseph, who didn’t play a single minute, looked visibly upset. Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu had to step in and calm him down. He then had a word with Pascal Struijk as well.
Joseph is known for his fiery attitude, and while it’s unclear what frustrated him, the tension in the Leeds squad was obvious. Even Manor Solomon looked annoyed after the match.
Joseph Left on the Bench
One reason for Joseph’s frustration could be the fact that he wasn’t brought on. The young forward has been a regular part of the squad this season, playing in 36 of Leeds’ 38 games. But for just the second time, he remained an unused substitute.
Farke made only two changes during the game, bringing on Wilfried Gnonto at half-time and later replacing Manor Solomon with Largie Ramazani. Striker Joel Piroe played the full 90 minutes, meaning Joseph never got his chance.
Joseph has started 11 matches this season and come off the bench 25 times, so being left out was a rare situation for him. His frustration is understandable, but with the international break coming up, he will have to wait for his next opportunity.
What’s Next for Leeds?
Despite the draw, Leeds remain in a strong position. They have proven they can fight back from difficult situations, but they need to stay focused if they want to secure promotion.
With the Championship race heating up, every point is crucial. Leeds will need to regroup during the break and come back stronger for the final push.
