Leeds cruised to a 3-0 win at Elland Road against Coventry City.
The star of the match was Willy Gnonto, who not only scored the opening goal but also got on the scoresheet in addition to providing an assist and underlining once more his key role in each game.
First Half: Gnonto’s Moment of Brilliance
Leeds started the game well, and it was not long before they opened the scoring.
Gnonto scored first in the 16th minute, finishing a quality Junior Firpo cross.
Ben Wilson in the Coventry goal had no chance as the ball was fired past him with his left foot by the young Italian to give Leeds the lead they deserved.
Having enjoyed most of the ball, Leeds could not increase their lead before the break, Wilson in inspired form as he denied Joseph and Gruev with a long-ranger volley that looked destined for the net.
Second Half: Leeds Capitalize on Dominance
Leeds came out for the second half keen to add to their advantage.
Jayden Bogle made it 2-0 to the away side just moments after the restart.
He collected the ball on the right, linked up nicely with Largie Ramazani and drove into the area to finish past Wilson.
After this Leeds were sailing and Coventry found themselves struggling to get back into the game.
Coventry manager Mark Robins rang the changes to try and spark a reaction from his side, bringing on Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Haji Wright, and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Yet their response was futile as Leeds continued to create opportunities, with Brenden Aaronson coming close with a shot that went wide..
Moments later, Coventry finally had their first shot on target through Joel Latibeaudiere, but it was easily saved by Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
Late Flourish: Piroe Seals the Win
In the closing moments, Gnonto turned provider once again. After a slick pass from Ao Tanaka released him down the right, Gnonto squared the ball for substitute Joel Piroe, who finished from close range to make it 3-0.
The final whistle blew shortly after, confirming a fantastic afternoon for Leeds, who are chasing promotion in the Championship.
Leeds United’s performance showed their potential and ambition this season.
With players like Gnonto stepping up and contributing significantly, they will be a formidable force as they aim for a top position in the league.
