Mateusz Klich, a Polish midfielder and former player of Leeds United, is about to begin a new phase of his career after joining Atlanta United from D.C United.
There had been talks of a move back to Poland to place Cracovia or even a return to Leeds, but reports from GIVEMESPORT suggest that Atlanta has agreed terms on a $300,000 transfer for the 34-year old midfielder.
This comes on the heels of Klich’s strong performance for D.C. United where he played 70 matches, netted 7 goals and assisted 13 goals.
Klich will be almost 35 years old on his birthday but he will bring experience and leadership which will be of great advantage to Atlanta which already has veterans such as Brad Guzan and Derrick Williams in its ranks.
Leeds Memories and Klich’s One Regret
Klich is known for his contribution to Leeds United’s transition to the Premier League in 2020 which secured the fans’ devotion during his six-year stay at Elland Road.
He played 195 matches, scored 24 goals and assisted 21 times, which made him one of the best players for the club.
During his stay at Leeds, Klich expressed disappointment that their promotion to the Premier League was during the time of the Covid epidemic.
This means that in-stadium and city parades never happened.
Now, as he heads to Atlanta United, Klich looks forward to making an impact in the 2025 MLS campaign, carrying his experiences of promotion-winning into his new challenges.
