Leeds United has suffered another suspension blow as defender Junior Firpo has received a three-match ban after an altercation that took place after Leeds’ last loss to Millwall.
The alleged instance that caused this suspension is purported to be the headbutt Firpo inflicted on Danny McNamara of Millwall which will see him miss the fixtures against QPR, Swansea City, and Luton Town.
Firpo’s Absence Adds to Leeds’ Defensive Challenges
Having previously served a suspension this season, Leeds manager Daniel Farke is now forced to seek alternatives for the left back.
Sam Byram is expected to take his place and while his experience will be valuable, it will disrupt the team structure as Byram is right footed.
Another candidate, Isaac Schmidt might as well get more minutes on the field should he manage to catch Farke’s attention in training.
Impact on Leeds’ Performance
With this suspension and ongoing injuries, Leeds United will need to work around these challenges as they strive for consistency and a stronger defensive front in the upcoming matches.
Fans hope for solid performances and that Firpo’s absence won’t heavily affect their chances in crucial games.
