As per journalist Alan Nixon’s confirmation Leeds United are close to formally engaging the services of 17 year old Australian goalkeeper Robbie Cook on a three year contract.
It was earlier reported that the Australian youngster had drawn interest from top clubs such as Sunderland and Manchester United, although Leeds seem to have triumphed in the race for his signature.
Cook’s standout performances for Perth Glory have made him one of the most sought after young players in Australia.
A Step Towards the Future
Leeds clearly seeks to invest young players in this move which is beneficial to the club in the long run, since it intends to have a competitive group.
With Cook’s arrival, the Whites will complete their backup in the goalkeeping department as well as making sure the club is still concentrating on developing bright young players.
The deal indicates a worrying trend as Leeds retain their desire to gain promotion into the Premier League.
