Leeds United have reportedly launched a formal proposal to sign Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle this summer, as per the journalist Alan Nixon.
After joining the Blades from Derby County back in 2020, the 23-year-old helped his side gain the promotion during the 2022/23 season. However, Sheffield United struggled in the Premier League last term and were relegated so the youngster only managed to test himself out in the top-flight for one season, scoring three goals in 34 appearances.
However, Bogle has entered the final year of his current contract, therefore, his future is currently hanging in balance at Bramall Lane.
Leeds are said to be in financial difficulties having failed to gain the promotion last term. So, they are seemingly looking to reinforce their squad by signing budget players with Bogle emerging as a serious option.
On Patreon, Nixon has reported that the Whites are willing to strengthen their backline by signing Bogle and have already submitted a formal proposal to get the deal done.
Leeds submit bid to sign Bogle
Leeds bid is around £3m with add-ons but Sheffield United reportedly want around £7m, hence the two parties are pretty far from reaching an agreement over this deal.
The Peacocks are currently lacking options in their right-back position following Luke Ayling’s departure. Although they have Rasmus Kristensen, he was out on loan at AS Roma last season and is unlikely to remain at the club this term as well.
So, signing a new right-back would be the right decision and Bogle could be a shrewd acquisition as he already has experience playing in the Premier League and the Championship.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Yorkshire club eventually manage to acquire his service in this transfer window to address one of the key issues.
Meanwhile, Leeds also need to sign a new midfielder as Archie Gray has already left the club, while Glen Kamara is closing in on joining Stade Rennais. Hence, it remains to be seen how much money Leeds eventually spend this summer to strengthen the squad.
