As reported by journalist Nancy Froston, Gretar Steinsson is ready to say goodbye to his position as Leeds United’s technical director and relocate to 49ers Enterprises on a broader scope.
Elland Road will not have an immediate successor to this change in their place, Steinsson will research trends within the industry and its technology, and how players can be developed for the 49ers’s worldwide network.
Plans for a Multi-Club Model
The new owners of Leeds, 49ers Enterprises, are reported to be actively looking at the possibility of a multi-club model like that of Manchester City.
If such a model was to be implemented it could in the long run extend Leeds United’s scouting area and improve its chances of getting quality players as the years go by, thus ensuring the club grows in the long run.
Steinsson, who was first appointed in 2023 towards the transition of the ownership of the club, will still be helping Leeds from within the framework of 49ers, with the aim of enhancing the club’s infrastructure with an eye on competing in the Premier League in the years to come.
