Leeds United have reportedly reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal to sell Archie Gray this summer, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Whites are said to be in financial difficulties having failed to gain promotion last term. So, it has been reported that Daniel Farke’s side need to sell some of their key players to raise funds in order to balance the books.
Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto have all been linked with a move away from the club but it seems Gray is going to be the first big-money sale for the Peacocks this summer.
Brentford were said to be close to signing the 18-year-old but the two clubs eventually failed to find an agreement, therefore, a deal has fallen through.
However, it appears Tottenham have taken advantage of that and have now swooped in to get the deal done.
Gray to leave Leeds
Writing on X, Romano has reported that Leeds have agreed on a deal in principle with Tottenham to sell Gray with the player accepting a move to the North London club.
The journalist further claims that the two clubs will now finalise the documents before the deal gets sealed with Leeds set to make £40m from their youngster’s departure.
Additionally, Romano has reported that Leeds will sign Joe Rodon from the Lilywhites and they are going to pay a fee of around £10m to bring the Welshman back to Elland Road.
Romano wrote:
“Archie Gray to Tottenham, here we go! Agreement in principle between all parties involved, waiting to sign docs. Spurs are set to pay fee around £40m, long term deal for Gray who’s accepted to join. Joe Rodon to join #LUFC in separate transaction around £10m.”
Moreover, David Ornstein has backed Romano’s report and stated that Gray has already completed medical with Tottenham and he will sign a six-year contract with them.
Therefore, the youngster’s departure will help Leeds generate some money and that should allow Farke to make some signings this summer. However, most importantly, Leeds will get Rodon back and his addition will solidify the Whites’ backline.
