It has been reported that Viktor Gyökeres will be joining Sporting CP with a £17 million fee attached as well as a clause, which would see Coventry City given a percentage of any future transfer. This is following initial contact from Leeds; however, the Coventry City striker isn’t looking to drop down to play championship football again.
Viktor Gyökeres has attracted a host of Premier League and European teams after netting 21 goals and 13 assists for Coventry City but stumbling short of promotion after losing against Luton Town in the playoff final.
Leeds need to look at more realistic signings
Because Gyökeres is being linked with the likes of Premier League clubs West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace as well as clubs like Sporting CP who could give the possibility of offering Viktor the chance at Europa League football next season, you would think talks to go to Leeds wouldn’t be entertained, given the current state of the club right now.
Leeds showing ambition
The 49s are clearly making statements by them being linked with players like Gyökeres, so this must be applauded to try and get the best players to gain promotion back to the Premier League.
However, Leeds could be in for a possible swoop of Emmanuel Dennis from Forest, who they bought in from Watford last summer for a reported £10m. With Bamford being increasingly unreliable and inconsistent upfront, this may help speed developments up, although Dennis only saw the goal twice in 25 appearances, the 26-year-old may have a point prove to replace the misfiring Bamford.
