Leeds United are reportedly keen on bringing Tottenham Hotspur star Joe Rodon back to Elland Road this summer, as per Football London.
The Welsh international was on loan at the Peacocks from Spurs last season and played a pivotal role in Daniel Farke’s starting eleven. The Yorkshire club enjoyed a promising campaign, reaching the final of the Championship playoff before losing to Southampton so they eventually failed to gain promotion.
Now, according to the report by Football London, Leeds are keen on signing the defender this summer and could make a potential swoop in this transfer window.
The report further claims that Tottenham are ready to cash-in on Rodon so Farke’s side can manage to acquire his service should they formalise their interest.
Leeds want to re-sign Rodon
Rodon, valued at around £7m by Transfermarkt, still has two years left in his current contract with Spurs, therefore, it is going to be interesting to see how much money the North London club demand to sell their out of favour man.
However, Football London reports that Ipswich Town, Southampton and Leicester City have also expressed their interest in signing him and considering all of those clubs are in the Premier League, the lure of playing in the English top-flight could tempt Rodon to join any of those clubs.
So, Leeds could find it extremely difficult to lure the Welsh international back to Elland Road ahead of next season.
The 26-year-old, standing at 6ft 4in tall, is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, excellent in defensive contributions and also reads the game well.
He developed an excellent partnership with Ethan Ampadu last season and recreating that would help Leeds mount a top-two finish in the Championship next season.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Yorkshire club can eventually manage to secure his signature this summer and if they can’t do that then it is going to be interesting to see who they will sign to strengthen the defensive department.
