Leeds United are reportedly ‘at risk of losing’ Glen Kamara this summer as Stade Rennais have registered their interest in signing him.
The 28-year-old moved to Elland Road from Rangers in a £5m deal last summer and went on to play a key role for Daniel Farke’s starting eleven last season. He featured in 37 games in the Championship, registering three assists and helping his side reach the playoff final.
However, Rennes’ new sporting director, Frederic Massara has recently revealed (via Leeds Live) that they are interested in signing the midfielder and could attempt to secure his signature this summer.
Hence, Leeds are currently ‘at risk of losing’ yet another key midfielder having already sold Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur in this transfer window.
Kamara still has three years left in his current contract so the Whites are in no rush to sell their star man this summer. Therefore, it is going to be interesting to see whether Farke’s side can eventually manage to keep hold of him.
Kamara linked with a move away from Leeds
After narrowly missing out on gaining promotion last term, the Peacocks have reportedly endured a big financial blow, hence they had to to raise funds by selling some stars to balance the books.
However, it has recently been reported that after cashing-in on Gray, Leeds are in a strong situation regarding the PSR rules, therefore, they won’t have to sell anyone else this summer.
Farke would be keen on mounting a top-two charge next season after failing to secure the top-flight status last term. However, in order to achieve that, the Whites need a strong squad so they should now keep hold of their star players and add a few new faces.
Leeds have already made Joe Rodon’s loan permanent, while they have also signed Joe Rothwell on a season-long loan deal from AFC Bournemouth.
Therefore, the Peacocks shouldn’t allow Kamara’s departure unless an unrefusable proposal is tabled by his potential suitors in this transfer window.
