Leeds United climbed to third in the Championship table after sweeping aside Plymouth Argyle in a 3-0 win at Elland Road.
Plymouth, coached by Wayne Rooney, did not appear to have the capacity to overcome the three-goal lead established through first-half strikes from Dan James, Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson.
They failed to record a single shot on goal, which left travelling Plymouth fans bitterly frustrated.
Leeds United’s Strong Performance
Under the management of Daniel Farke, Leeds have been on a terrific run of form, going eight matches without defeat.
Leeds moves closer to the top of the Championship with Sunderland dropping points against QPR, giving fans optimism that automatic promotion is the goal this season.
The supporters have had lofty dreams ever since the beginning of this season, after Leeds fell just short of reaching the Premier League with a last-minute defeat to Southampton in the play-off final last season.
Plymouth’s Woes Under Wayne Rooney
The game was a classic example of the gulf between Leeds pulling themselves clear and Plymouth languishing.
With Plymouth hovering just outside the relegation zone, Rooney had a big task on his hands.
Plymouth are 24th for expected goals conceded and their need for defensive improvement is clear, even if they did stage a solid restart with their comeback against Preston last month.
Key Takeaways for Leeds
Leeds is looking increasingly ready for a return to the Premier League, with a team that seems to be growing stronger every game.
They’ll face tough competition from Sunderland, Sheffield United, and other top teams vying for promotion, but with Farke’s leadership and their strong recent form, fans have every reason to be hopeful about the future.

It’s not a comment regarding yesterday’s game against Plymouth Argyle. It’s more a comment regarding the constant watering of the pitch. Before the game, half time . The amount of times our players have slipped must surely ring a bell somewhere in the club?. It did, in my opinion cost us the game against Burnley. So please, this time of year in particular, when pitches are naturally damp. Thank you for the chance to speak out.
