Leeds United will look to build on their recent form as they face Middlesbrough at Elland Road on Tuesday evening, with Daniel Farke making a few tactical changes to his side.
After a 2-0 win against Derby County, Leeds aim to extend their solid run, having won four of their last five matches.
But this will be a different challenge, as Michael Carrick’s Boro side will be out for revenge following their 3-0 Carabao Cup win earlier this season.
Key Change for Leeds: Firpo Out, Wober In
Leeds will be forced into one change due to injury. Junior Firpo, who picked up a knock in the Derby game, is unlikely to feature.
Max Wober, who stepped in and scored in Firpo’s absence, is expected to start in his place.
This will be Wober’s first league start for Leeds in over a year and a half, after his last appearance in the final match of the 2022-23 season.
Two More Changes Likely: Who Will Lead the Attack?
Farke is also expected to make two other changes to his lineup. One of the big questions is who will start up front, Mateo Joseph, Patrick Bamford, or Joel Piroe?
Piroe, despite his solid goal contributions this season, has struggled with involvement in recent games, making Joseph a smart pick for the starting role.
The young forward impressed when he came off the bench against Derby and could bring more energy to the attack.
Additionally, Farke is likely to rotate his wingers. Wilfried Gnonto, who was a substitute against Derby, should return to the starting XI in place of Dan James, who played more minutes over the weekend.
Predicted Leeds United Starting XI:
Farke’s predicted lineup for Tuesday’s game against Middlesbrough is as follows:
- Goalkeeper: Illan Meslier
- Defenders: Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Max Wober
- Midfielders: Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell
- Wingers: Wilfried Gnonto, Brenden Aaronson, Manor Solomon
- Forward: Mateo Joseph
Leeds are confident going into this match, and a win could see them climb back to the top of the Championship table.
With Sheffield United not playing until Wednesday, Leeds have a golden opportunity to take the lead with three points.
The Whites have the momentum and with Farke’s changes, they’ll be hoping to make it five wins from their last six games.
Leeds United fans will be watching closely as the team looks to secure another crucial victory in the race for promotion.
