Former West Ham and Nottingham Forest man Cheikou Kouyate has signed for Leeds United.
Leeds had a gap to fill in their midfield, however, as key stars Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu were out injured.
The 34-year-old Senegal international has signed until the end of the season, with an option for a further year.
The experienced midfielder who won the 2021 African Cup of Nations, he’s expected to help The Whites in their quest for promotion.
Injuries Force Leeds to Act
The injury setbacks to Gruev and Ampadu, crucial cogs in the Leeds side led them to move for Kouyate.
Ampadu, the club captain, faces a battle to play again until at least January having suffered ligament damage and Gruev will miss months after knee surgery.
This signing is expected to bolster Leeds United’s midfield and give them much-needed strength as they push for promotion.
