As per TEAMtalk, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke is looking to make a change in his starting XI during the Harrogate Town FA cup clash that is set to take place on Saturday, 11th January.
According to Farke, Karl Darlow is set to replace Illan Meslier which would allow the 31-year old to prove his worth, he has never been given the opportunity in the past few matches.
Darlow was often favored over Danny Ward during his time with Craig Bellamy for international matches.
As of now, he will be able to display his skills at Elland Road, and take a step closer to clinching the first choice goalkeeper position for Leeds.
Meslier’s Recent Struggles Raise Questions
There have been some reports about Illan Meslier not performing well during Leeds’ efforts to get promoted, particularly during the matches against Sunderland, Preston, and Hull City.
Even though there are flashes of greatness in Meslier’s performance but on the whole, inconsistency has been a problem and it might affect Leeds in the long run.
Farke’s decision to bench Meslier might be seen as a tactical change or as a wake-up call for the Frenchman.
Now that Leeds are in a good position to get promoted, keeping goals stable will be important and this match may influence the pecking order in the role of goalkeeping.
