Former Leeds United player Connor Roberts was one of two ex-Whites in Burnley’s squad on Monday night as both sides played out a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor.
The match, affected by poor weather, ended with no goals, but Roberts had an impressive performance against his old club.
Leeds and Burnley Share the Points in Tough Conditions
Leeds United and Burnley battled it out in a match where the wind and rain made things tough for both teams.
Leeds dominated much of the possession but failed to create clear chances.
The best opportunity of the game came in the 88th minute when Dan James’ shot was saved by England goalkeeper James Trafford.
Neither side seemed willing to take big risks, focusing instead on avoiding defeat.
Despite the lack of goals, Leeds showed they are still strong contenders in the Championship.
Scott Parker, Burnley’s manager, even praised Leeds after the game, calling them the best team in the league this season.
Connor Roberts Sends Message to Old Teammates
Roberts, who played 15 games for Leeds last season while on loan from Burnley, had a solid game on Monday night.
He formed a strong partnership on Burnley’s right side with Jaidon Anthony, another former Leeds player.
After the match, Roberts posted on Instagram, saying, “Nice to see some old mukkas last night.”
Roberts had a successful loan spell with Leeds last season, even scoring an important goal in their 3-1 win over Leicester.
But Leeds didn’t make the move permanent, and Roberts returned to Burnley in the summer.
Roberts’ Future Still Uncertain
Connor Roberts has been a key player for Burnley this season, helping them keep 20 clean sheets and concede just nine goals in the Championship.
His defensive skills were on display against Leeds, with one standout moment when he stopped Largie Ramazani from connecting with a dangerous cross.
However, Roberts’ future at Burnley remains unclear. His contract ends in June, and with no talks of a new deal, the 28-year-old could be on the move again this summer.
Leeds United, on the other hand, have strengthened their squad with Jayden Bogle, who has been one of their standout players this season.
Bogle, along with Dan James, has been instrumental in Leeds’ attacking play down the right flank.
Connor Roberts might not be wearing Leeds colors anymore, but his performance on Monday showed why he remains a quality player in the Championship.
Both Leeds and Burnley will now look ahead as they push for promotion to the Premier League.
