I was genuinely surprised to see strong rumours about Daniel Farke being sacked just days after Leeds United secured promotion. It feels incredibly premature, especially considering we’re still in the running for the title. That said, I can sense where Paraag might be having doubts—although I would’ve preferred these rumours not to surface at this stage of the season.
Whatever decision is made, I’ll support it. Leeds needs a long-term vision for stability and growth, and if the board feels change is needed to achieve that, so be it. Personally, I’m not entirely convinced Farke is the man to lead us long-term in the Premier League. His spells with Norwich showed promise but lacked the support needed in terms of squad quality, and still, the results didn’t exactly inspire confidence.
I know that might sound overly critical—especially after promotion—but it reminds me of Gary O’Neil’s situation at Bournemouth. At the time, many thought he was hard done by, yet Andoni Iraola’s impressive work since has all but erased that narrative. The same could be said of Brighton moving on from Chris Hughton to Graham Potter—it looked harsh at the time but ultimately elevated the club’s playing style and culture.
Something similar might be in the works at Leeds. I don’t know what the club’s plan is, but this report from Mike Keegan, Chief Sports Writer at Mail Sport definitely feels like a case of no smoke without fire.
