Brenden Aaronson’s first-half performance in Leeds United’s match against Blackburn Rovers on 30 November was far from impressive.
Despite being given a starting spot in the number 10 role, the US international was ineffective both on and off the ball. His poor dribbling, with a zero percent success rate, raised concerns, as such a stat is unacceptable for a player positioned to create chances in the final third.
Aaronson’s struggles were compounded by his inability to win ground duels and a lack of intensity in pressing.
Lack of Impact on the Attack
Aaronson’s time on the pitch was also marked by missed opportunities to make key passes.
Instead of taking risks and making decisive plays, he often opted for safer passes, failing to break down Blackburn’s defence.
At times, he appeared more focused on complaining to the referee rather than improving his game.
His ineffective performance became a significant concern for Leeds fans, as they looked to turn the match around after a disappointing first half.
Time for Change
With Largie Ramazani available on the bench, it seems obvious that Aaronson should be replaced to give Leeds a better chance in the second half.
Ramazani brings more energy and creativity, along with the ability to be a goal threat.
His presence could inject some much-needed life into Leeds’ attack and improve the performance of those around him.
If Leeds are to get back into the game, a change at half-time could prove crucial.
