Leeds United are reportedly making moves to strengthen their attack in the upcoming January transfer window.
The club has set its sights on Maccabi Tel Aviv striker Dor Turgeman, with reports suggesting that a deal could be completed for a fee of around £4.1 million.
This move comes as Leeds aim to secure automatic promotion back to the Premier League, with their current frontline facing scrutiny.
Leeds Struggle to Find a Consistent No. 9
Under Daniel Farke, Leeds have rotated through their striker options without finding a consistent performer.
Mateo Joseph started the season as the go-to striker but failed to deliver consistent goals, leading to Joel Piroe taking over.
While Piroe has scored seven goals this season, four of them have come as a substitute, raising questions about his effectiveness as a starter.
Patrick Bamford, another option, has played just 77 minutes this season and may be on his way out.
Who Is Dor Turgeman?
At just 21 years old, Turgeman is already an established talent, having earned seven caps for Israel’s senior team.
This season has been his best yet, with nine goals in 16 appearances for Maccabi Tel Aviv, including four in the Europa League.
Notably, he scored against Real Sociedad, showcasing his ability to perform on big stages.
Turgeman’s natural position as a number nine could make him an ideal fit for Leeds, providing the cutting edge they need in attack.
Leeds are said to have already approached Maccabi Tel Aviv after closely monitoring the player’s performances.
However, the Israeli club may prefer to keep Turgeman until the end of the season, potentially complicating negotiations.
Why Leeds Need a Striker
With Leeds sitting just outside the top two in the Championship, securing automatic promotion is within reach.
However, the team risks falling short if key positions are not addressed in January.
Striker remains a priority, as inconsistent performances from the current options could jeopardize their promotion push.
