An ambassadorship position has been proposed for club legend Lucas Radebe by the Leeds United management.
This information was shared during the 5th November Supporter Advisory Board (SAB) meeting, whose minutes were made public on 20th November.
The new orientation further signifies the growth of the fanbase of the club as it strives toward reconciliation with its iconic players and its supporters as well.
Radebe’s Legacy at Leeds United
The legend Lucas Radebe is one of the shiny memories of Leeds United’s history as he was active at Elland Road for 11 years from 1994 to 2005.
The South African defender played for the Whites more than 250 games around the time, earning the love of the fans.
A man known for leadership, tenacity and loyalty, Radebe played his last match in December 2005, marking the end of his career.
Radebe’s bond to Leeds has always been quite close so this might be the perfect ambassador position for him.
The SAB minutes include Leeds United’s CEO Mr. Angus Kinnear who responded to the concerns raised especially about Lucas Radebe, whether there are plans for Lucas Radebe and the Club in the future.
He confirmed Lucas Radebe will soon become the club’s ambassador.
Radebe’s Continued Influence
Radebe continues to enthrall fans and players with his contributions.
He was present at Elland Road recently for the Yorkshire derby between Leeds and Sheffield United, where he was presented to the audience during the halftime break.
As expected, the fans’ response was nothing short of impressive as they all turned up to applaud him for his services to the club.
Should Radebe be appointed ambassador, he is expected to assist Leeds United in creating awareness in other countries.
As well as building large support for Leeds, he’s already well known which will aid him in the role.
