Oscar Zambrano, a Hull City midfielder, has been handed a suspension by the South American Football Confederation due to breaching anti-doping regulations.
Ghanaian joined Hull on a loan deal from LDU in March and has now been placed under investigation which can jeopardize his current Hull season.
Zambrano has been reassured by Acun Ilicali, the owner of Hull City, about the club’s backing and Zambrano wishes to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Uncertain Future for Zambrano
Zambrano, 20, has always maintained his position claiming that the figure of the substance found in his body is not intended for performance enhancing purposes but was used in an emergency to ease swelling caused by an allergic reaction according to his lawyer.
This possible 16L month ban would end his loan deal in the Championship, depriving Hull City who are now 17th on the log after a difficult six matches, of their young midfielder.
What’s Next for Hull City?
Hull City are under pressure, sitting close to the relegation zone. Manager Tim Walter is facing scrutiny as fans grow frustrated with recent results.
With Zambrano’s suspension looming, the club faces an uphill battle in securing their Championship position and managing fan expectations.
Hull City supporters will need to wait and see if the appeal changes the young player’s future at the club.
