Leeds United are facing further injury struggles after, Ethan Ampadu, was forced off during the first half of their match against Coventry City.
The Welsh international appeared to injure his leg after a strong challenge with Coventry’s Ben Sheaf and had to be replaced in the 41st minute by Ao Tanaka.
This adds to Leeds’ growing list of injuries, including key players like Max Wober, Manor Solomon, and Daniel James, who were already sidelined.
Struijk Steps Up as Captain
Pascal Struijk, who had been a doubt before the game due to fitness concerns, stepped in as captain after Ampadu left the pitch.
He partnered with Joe Rodon in the heart of Leeds’ defence.
Junior Firpo, who also faced fitness issues during the week, managed to start the game despite missing some training due to a knock.
Firpo had a key impact in the first half, providing an assist for Wilfried Gnonto’s opening goal, helping Leeds take a half-time lead.
Injury Concerns and Recovery Updates
Leeds have been grappling with a number of injuries, but there was some positive news for the team.
Patrick Bamford, who had been recovering from a slight injury, made the bench for the Coventry clash. Striker Joe Gelhardt also returned to the squad after missing recent matches.
The team is now aiming for consecutive wins in the Championship as they look to close the gap on promotion contenders.
With leaders West Bromwich Albion losing earlier in the day, Leeds have a chance to strengthen their position in the promotion race.
Leeds United’s growing injury list remains a concern for head coach Daniel Farke as they push for promotion.
The club will hope for a swift recovery for Ampadu, as well as their other sidelined stars, to keep their campaign on track.
