Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt are aiming to renegotiate the transfer fee for Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen, who is currently on loan with the German side.
Kristensen joined Frankfurt this season and has quickly become a key player in their defence, starting all four of their Bundesliga games so far.
Kristensen’s Role at Frankfurt
Kristensen, who signed with Leeds United in 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg, spent last season on loan at Roma after Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League.
While he has shown some weaknesses, his leadership and defensive organization have made him a standout player for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Despite the competition, Kristensen has settled well in Frankfurt’s backline and is already seen as a valuable asset.
The Current Loan Agreement
The current agreement between Leeds and Frankfurt includes an option for Frankfurt to purchase Kristensen permanently for a fee of €13 million.
However, with only one year remaining on his Leeds contract after the loan, Frankfurt feels the original price is too high.
They are keen to lower the fee and plan to enter talks with Leeds to finalize the deal.
Renegotiation Strategy
Frankfurt is looking to reduce the agreed fee, believing they can secure Kristensen for a lower price, especially considering his contract situation with Leeds.
The club’s intent is clear, they want Kristensen permanently but are not willing to pay the initially agreed-upon €13 million.
While the defender’s future with Leeds United remains uncertain, it’s evident that his performances have impressed the Bundesliga side.
The coming negotiations between the two clubs will determine whether Kristensen stays in Germany permanently.
Leeds will likely face a choice either accept a lower fee or see the defender return next summer, where he may struggle to find a place in their future plans.
