Former Leeds United player Dominic Matteo has given his thoughts ahead of Leeds United’s upcoming match against Cardiff City, predicting a cautious approach from the Bluebirds.
Erol Bulut’s Cardiff team is currently at the bottom of the Championship table with only one point from five games.
Facing intense pressure, Cardiff are expected to play defensively to try to contain Leeds’ dangerous attacking power.
Cardiff’s Struggles
Cardiff’s season has been off to a poor start, and they are in desperate need of a win to climb out of the relegation zone.
Matteo believes that because Leeds have the advantage of speed and a dynamic attack, Cardiff will likely be hesitant and play more conservatively at the start.
“The team that hasn’t won a game will always approach the match a bit cagey”
Matteo told LUTV, “They know what Leeds can do, and they will definitely plan to counter our threats.”
Leeds Looking for a Response
Leeds are also under pressure after their narrow 1-0 loss to Burnley last weekend.
However, Matteo thinks Leeds were unlucky and should approach the Cardiff match with confidence.
The Whites will be looking to grab all three points to bounce back, knowing their supporters will be cheering them on.
Matteo added, “We didn’t get the result against Burnley, but the fans will be with us. We just need to focus on our job and perform professionally to get the points.”
The upcoming match promises to be intense, with both teams eager for a win to turn their seasons around.
Leeds, the favorites, will look to dominate, but Cardiff’s cautious approach could make the match challenging for Daniel Farke’s men.
