Leeds United are ‘actively’ looking to strengthen multiple areas of the squad after making several sales over the last few weeks, as per the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Despite enjoying a promising campaign last term, the Whites ended the season on a disappointing note after losing to Southampton in the Championship playoff final.
As a result, Leeds failed to gain promotion to the Premier League and it was a big financial blow for Daniel Farke’s side so they first had to focus on making some sales to balance the books before starting their business to sign new players.
The Peacocks have sold several players over the last few days but their squad haven’t regressed that much as most of those players were fringe options like Diego Llorente and Marc Roca.
However, Archie Gray’s departure to Tottenham Hotspur is a huge blow but signing Joe Rodon to bolster the backline is a real positive for Farke.
Leeds looking to reinforce squad
Having narrowly missed out on securing their place in the Premier League last season, Leeds would be keen on making a top-two charge next season and regain their top-flight status.
Therefore, in order to help the German boss do that, the Whites need to freshen up the squad ahead of next season and now, according to the report by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are ‘actively’ looking to sign players to strengthen several areas of the squad this summer.
Farke’s side need reinforcements in the right-back position, and they also have to sign a new midfielder to replace Gray. In addition, they would be better off acquiring the service of a new centre-forward.
Hence, if Leeds can keep hold of their stars such as Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto, who has been linked with a move away from the club in recent times, and add new signings over the coming weeks then that would certainly reinforce the squad.
Therefore, should the Leeds hierarchy manage to do that then it will help Farke mount a top-two charge next season. It is going to be interesting to see how this transfer window unfolds for the Peacocks over the coming weeks.
