Leeds United could reportedly sell Crysencio Summerville should the forward want to leave this summer, as per the journalist Ben Jacobs.
It has been mentioned that the Whites have suffered a big blow financially having failed to gain the promotion. They went all the way to the Championship playoff final last season but eventually lost to Southampton in the final.
Therefore, Leeds reportedly need to raise funds by selling some stars to balance the books. However, speaking on GiveMeSport, Jacobs has now reported that after selling Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur, the Peacocks have found themselves in a strong position financially so they currently don’t have to sell any of their stars.
However, the journalist says that Leeds won’t stop anyone from leaving if they want to move away and therefore, should Summerville, who has been linked with big Premier League clubs at the moment, would be allowed to take the next step in his career if he requests a move and his potential suitors submit a lucrative proposal.
Jacobs also states that Chelsea and Newcastle United have registered their interest in the Dutchman, hence it remains to be seen whether either club eventually decide to formalise their interest.
Leeds ready to sell Summerville
Jacobs said:
“If the player says he wants to move, Leeds sources indicate they’ll be very understanding of that, and at the right price he could still go. So there remains a realistic chance that Summerville is sold, but Leeds don’t have to sell due to financial concerns anymore, so they can be a little bit more bullish and that definitely puts them in a stronger position.
“Chelsea and Newcastle from the Premier League are two clubs that have looked, but neither have bid – and even after Chelsea missed out on Olise, wanting a winger that can play either right-sided, left-sided or both, they haven’t moved for Summerville.”
Leeds reportedly want a fee of around £40m to sell Summerville, therefore his departure would generate big money for Leeds.
However, the 22-year-old was Championship player of the season last term and hence, losing a player of his qualities would be a big loss for the Whites should they eventually cash-in on him this summer.
