Leeds United are reportedly considering signing Fulham star Marek Rodak this summer, as per the Daily Mail.
After failing to gain promotion, the Whites have suffered a huge financial blow and they reportedly need to raise up to £100m through player sales to comply with the Profit and sustainability rules.
Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter have already been linked with a move away from the club. But, the Daily Mail now reports that Leeds could also sell Illan Meslier with Olympique de Marseille showing an interest in signing him.
The report further claims that the Peacocks don’t want to let their star man leave for anything less than £20m so they can generate a heafty funds from the Frenchman’s departure.
The Daily Mail also states that Leeds have identified Rodak as a serious option to replace Meslier if they cash-in on him over the coming weeks.
Leeds to make swoop for Rodak
The Slovak’s current contract with Fulham is set to expire at the end of this month and is going to become available as a free agent. So, he should be an affordable signing for Leeds should they secure his signature.
Rodak helped Fulham gain promotion a few years ago but he has been playing as a second fiddle to Bernd Leno over the last few years. So, he hasn’t been able to get the proper game-time in recent times.
The 27-year-old is a 6ft 2in tall goalkeeper and has previously showcased his qualities in the Championship. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Leeds if they purchase him, especially given he is available for free.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Yorkshire club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to acquire his service in this transfer window.
After narrowly missing out on gaining promotion last term, Leeds would be hoping to secure their Premier League status at the end of next season. However, it remains to be seen how they will perform next term should they sell several of their key players this summer.
